Placeholder Brand is a collection of hand crafted ceramic art objects and home goods; established in 2017 by creator and operator, Mae Phillips.
All items are designed and fabricated by Mae in her home studio, nestled in the mountains of Park County, Colorado. Mae’s background in fine art ceramics and heart for the handmade object are the foundation of the thoughtfully curated, yet approachable offerings of Placeholder Brand.
Mae studied fine art ceramics at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. She had always been tactile and creative, but it was here that she really began conceiving of a life driven by her art. During this time, living with traveling musicians and DIY artists, she felt her passions being cultivated; and the first iteration of Placeholder Brand began to take form.
After graduating with a BFA in Fine Art Ceramics in 2013, Mae moved to Denver and pursued work first as a children’s pottery teacher, a doula, and then as a wedding florist. Just under the surface, all of these roles were slowly inspiring and informing the work Mae would later make.
